These classifications are used to describe sound and impact isolation of individual elements and composite assemblies. We’ll explain the differences and help you determine which parameters are best suited for your application.
LSG&A provides sound isolation and impact isolation testing using portable sound level analyzers, loudspeakers, and tapping machines. Field testing is performed using the latest versions of ASTM E336, E1007, E2964 to verify Building Code, LEED, ANSI, FGI, and project-specific design goals for sound and impact isolation between spaces.
LSG&A reviews architectural drawings and submittals to determine the proposed constructions of wall and floor/ceiling assemblies and estimate the resulting sound and impact isolation ratings. Recommendations can be developed for improved performance where needed and input can also be provided on value engineering decisions. The room acoustics of the space also influence the noise reduction between spaces.
