The International Building Code sets minimum requirements for sound and impact isolation for residential demising wall and floor/ceiling assembly. In addition, many projects seek to provide improved sound and impact isolation between spaces. LSG&A provides design services to meet code and project design goals, and mock-up or post-installation testing services to verify compliance. Baseline measurements are also performed to identity existing issues and recommendations are developed for improvement.
In addition, façade and roof sound isolation can be evaluated to reduce acoustical impact from outdoor sources such as transportation and mechanical equipment. LSG&A is familiar with HUD’s Noise Abatement and Control process and provides the required documentation to support the environmental review process for applicable projects. Outdoor air handling equipment and emergency generators for residential buildings are evaluated and noise control recommendations are developed for sound level compliance at the adjacent property lines.
